In the Philippines, the Mount Taal volcano has erupted. The volcano, located south of the capital Manila, is spewing ash up to a kilometer high.
More than a hundred thousand people living in the area fled. They were housed in evacuation centers such as schools and sports halls.
Last week’s eruption meant that entire towns around the volcano are now covered in a thick layer of ash. Houses collapsed and the entire area was without power or drinking water. The Red Cross is going into the Philippines to provide aid to residents.
Asha International provides support to The Red Cross to help the people of the Philippines. As of January 10, 2020, we are a proud sponsor of The Red Cross.
